Simon J Batten (SHR, 76-81)

Following on from the visit of our President to Flanders we heard from Simon Batten (SHR, 76-81) about his recent visit - 'I recently had the honour of attending the National Commemoration of the Centenary of Passchendaele at Tyne Cot Cemetery in Flanders, and as well as commemorating those Old Boys of Bloxham School, where I teach, I placed a memorial cross for Old Breconian Lieutenant Horace Macaulay, Seaforth Highlanders, who is commemorated on the wall there, as his body was never identified after he was killed at Wytschaete in the Ypres Salient on 25th April 1918.

His brother Bruce, also an OB, served in the same regiment and was killed at Arras on 3rd May 1917.'
